IT ALL STARTED WITH A PASSION: THE MAKING OF BALCONI
My Dad was diagnosed with a serious heart condition before my twin brother and I were born. Needless to say, we listened and held onto moments and advice a little differently than most. On a morning when Dad was recovering from a recent heart incident, he asked: “Sissy, promise me something. Promise me that you find your passion and you live everyday doing something that truly makes you happy.”… So I promised. And I kept it. From that point on, nothing was impossible. If I had a passion and desire to do anything in the world, I would do it.
To play professional soccer was my dream growing up and was determined to find a way to play. After a lot of hard work, I signed a contract to play professional soccer in Iceland. Why Iceland? The head coach was the only coach that asked me about my family.
Iceland weather is full of unpredictable conditions all in the same day. I needed a hat to protect my eyes and ears from the snow, rain and sun, but allowing breathability. This idea of the much needed functional, but stylish, hat became reality. The Balconi Hat was born.
After my first off season of professional soccer I came home to the states with another dream, and found my business partner, Lindsey Noteboom, who was the missing piece to the Balconi puzzle. We wanted to create a place for athletes to go and be given all the tools for success. A place filled with not only all of the training essentials, but receive the love, care and support that we all need. We believed if we could create such a home, we would help hundreds live their passions. We could be “my Dad” to so many. Welcome Balconi Top Training.
How can we be my Dad to more than just the Balconi athletes and families walking through our doors? We wanted to reach the world and give them that feeling to believe in themselves. Lindsey and I decided to build a brand and start spreading the feeling with our Balconi Hat. We believed in giving back, so we found a manufacture in the USA and continue producing all Balconi Gear there today. Now, here we are with a patented product- the Balconi Hat and a brand with a feeling- Balconi Gear.
